OBJECTIVES: At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

Review the prescribing pattern of proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs)
2.
Compare and contrast the pharmacological properties of PPIs
3.
Describe the different mechanisms and pathways of drug interactions with PPIs
4.
Review the clinical significance of PPIs drug interactions with various agents
       ° Focus on clopidogrel and PPI
 
Technician: (1 credit—ACPE#0152-0000-11-019-L04-T)
1.
Describe how PPI's can be inappropriately prescribed in the hospital setting.
2.
List common adverse drug reactions associated with PPI use.
3.
Recognize common potential drug interactions associated with the PPI class.

Target Audience:
This CE program was planned to meet the needs of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians practicing in a variety of health systems.
 
Participants will be required to sign in at the start of the program and complete a program evaluation form.
NON-MEMBERS: There is no fee for NJSHP members attending this program. NON-MEMBERS: Non-members wishing to attend will be charged a fee of $25.00. Should the attendee wish to join the Society at this time, the fee will be credited toward the first year's dues.

New Jersey Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy continuing education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. ACPE Universal Program Numbers: 0152-0000-11-019-L04-P & 0152-0000-11-019-L04-T. This is a knowledge based program providing ONE contact hour of continuing education credit. This program is being sponsored by the Central Chapter of the NJSHP.

At the end of the program, continuing education certificates will be given out to all participating participants who sign-in and hand in a completed program evaluation form. CE certificates will NOT be mailed.

Parking: Park in the Plum Street parking deck. Parking tickets will be validated for free parking.
 
Main Hospital

From New Jersey Turnpike: Take Exit 9 (New Brunswick) and proceed on Route 18 North about two miles to Route 27 South—Princeton, to the fourth traffic light (by the railroad station). Turn right onto Easton Avenue; make a left at the next light onto Somerset Street. Proceed to Plum Street.

From Route 1: Take Route 18 North and follow above directions.

From Route 287: Exit onto Route 527 (New Brunswick Exit). Follow Route 527 (Easton Avenue) for about six miles until you see a railroad overpass. Just before the overpass, make a right onto Little Albany Street. Proceed to the hospital, on your left.

From Garden State Parkway (From Points North):
Exit at Route 1 South (Exit 130). Proceed about nine miles to Route 18 North. Follow directions above.

From Garden State Parkway (From Points South): Exit onto New Jersey Turnpike South. Follow directions above.

From Route 18: Exit onto Route 27 South and follow directions above.

From Route 9: Exit onto Route 18 North and follow directions above.
