WHEREAS, health care system pharmacists practice in hospitals, long term care facilities and home care operations, and also staff health maintenance organizations, providing essential services that ensure safe and effective medication use; and

WHEREAS, these professionals are qualified to enhance patient compliance and to detect and prevent dangerous medication interactions; and

WHEREAS, the demand for pharmaceutical care is greater than ever before because of America's aging population, a rise in the occurrence of chronic conditions that require the use of multiple medications and changes in the settings where health care is delivered; and

WHEREAS, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians practicing in the hospitals and health-systems of New Jersey elevate the quality of care offered at our institutions;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHRIS CHRISTIE, Governor of the State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim:
