Most hospitals pursue accreditation in order for their organization to receive payment from federally funded Medicare and Medicaid programs and to ensure their organization is operating in a safe manner. One of these accreditation agencies is The Joint Commission and most of our central NJ hospitals are accredited by this agency. Changes made were to the 2018-2019 Joint Commission Medication Management standards.
The standards established by The Joint Commission are relevant to pharmacists and technicians in most hospitals within central NJ. Therefore, it is essential that hospital pharmacy staff is aware and current on the standards as they are revised periodically, especially the Medication Management standards. This lecture equipped pharmacy personnel with innovative strategies for navigating the survey process and ensuring compliance with current standards pertinent to the practice of pharmacy.
